Elemental Analyses and Charges

Please phone or e-mail to request our standard Schedule of Services and Fees. Please be aware that Midwest Microlab offers very aggressive discount packages. Be sure to inquire about these. Fees may vary with your project. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Midwest Microlab analyzes for all of the following elements:

  • Carbon-Hydrogen
  • Nitrogen
  • Sulfur
  • Chlorine
  • Bromine
  • Iodine
  • Oxygen
  • Fluorine
  • Phosphorus

We also provide special handling for air-sensitive samples for an additional $25.00 and a quantitative ash determination. The charge for a duplicate analysis will be discounted if a duplicate is initially requested on the submission form. Repeat analysis will be performed at the client's request. If the results are not consistent with the original results, the duplicate price will not be charged.

Packaging

It is recommended that the samples be suitably packed to withstand handling in the mail. To facilitate the mailing of samples, the submitter can be supplied with labels bearing our address and, for a nominal shipping fee; suitable mailing cartons can be obtained.

Samples

In the case of solid materials, the samples will be assumed to be dry unless otherwise stated and should amount to approx. 5 mg per determination required. Liquid samples should be suitably protected by metal foil in the cap if submitted in a screw cap vial. Volatile and/or air-sensitive substances should best be sealed in small ampoules. Ampoules should be fabricated in such a way that the top is long enough to provide sufficient leverage for easy opening. All samples will be returned to submitters for postal charges only.

Submission Sheets

Submission forms are available on this site or can be sent upon request. They are in general self-explanatory. It is requested that they be filled in completely, one for each sample with the appropriate Identification number. Under the item remarks should include any characteristics, if known, that may effect the analysis. If requesting special handling on air-sensitive samples, one must state "handle under inert". The submission sheets may be included in the mailing cartons with the samples.

Hazardous Samples

It is the responsibility of the submitter to disclose any and all hazards known about the substances being submitted for analysis. In order to adequately protect our laboratory personnel, we ask that you disclose all precautions such as: highly toxic, carcinogen, extreme irritant…etc. We do not analyze radioactive samples or any samples containing Osmium or PCB's.
